Statement of Faith

The Bible

We believe in the sufficiency of Scripture. The Bible is fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and written by men.  It is reliable as our final authority and completely inerrant having no errors in the original manuscripts.  The Bible is centered on the person and work of Jesus Christ and has the ability to sanctify believers into Christ-likeness.  2 Tim. 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21; Ps 19:7; John 17:17

God

We believe God is our creator and infinitely perfect in character and all His ways. He alone is worthy to receive all glory and worship.  He is all-powerful, all-knowing, holy, loving, righteous, sovereign, and unchangeable.  We believe in a Triune God existing as one God in three distinct persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – being equal in power and deity.   Gen 1:1-31; Rev 4:11; Deut 6:4; Matt 28:19.

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human, was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life. Jesus provided for the atonement of sin by His substitutionary death upon the cross, was bodily resurrected, and will return again to establish His kingdom on earth.  We have been called into fellowship with Jesus and to passionately follow Him.  John 1:1,14; Col 1:19; 1 Cor. 15:3-4; John 1:29; Rev 19:11-16; Lk 9:23; John 15:4-5

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit possesses attributes of a person while being entirely divine.  He convicts sinners, regenerates new life, and indwells believers. The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify Jesus Christ, guide and empower believers for ministry, distribute spiritual gifts, and enable for godly living. Acts 5:3-4; John 16:14; Eph 4:30; Acts 1:8; I Peter 1:2

Man

We believe man was created in the image of God to glorify God through intimate fellowship with Him. Adam’s original sin spread to all separating humanity from a holy God resulting in the curse of death and judgment in a literal and eternal hell. This depravity left men without the ability to merit a self-salvation by righteous works.   Gen 1:26-27; Ro 3:23; Ro 6:23; Eph 2:1; Matt 25:41

The Gospel

The Gospel, literally “good news” is that Jesus Christ loves and came to rescue sinners.  While separated from a holy God because of our sin, Jesus suffered on a cross and died in our place in order to reconcile to God. Through His substitutionary sacrifice and resurrection Jesus paid the price for our sins, atoning or satisfying the wrath of God.  John 3:16; Ro 5:8; II Cor 5:21; I Peter 3:18; I John 2:2

Salvation is by grace alone through faith and repentance not merited by works or moral deeds.  In believing Jesus Christ and repenting from sin to follow after Christ a person can be forgiven of every sin, made righteous, be reconciled to God, and regenerated to new life.    Eph 2:8-9; I John 1:9; II Cor 5:17-21; Ro 5:1; I John 5:11-13

Church

We believe the church are true believers who have been regenerated by grace, set apart from the world, and called on mission to bear witness of Christ and to make disciples.  It is a redemptive community committed to studying the Word, praying, and loving others. Christ is the head of the church appointing believers as priests to worship Him, serve the church, and practice communion and baptism.  Eph 2:5-6; John 17:16-18; Matt 28:20-21; Acts 2:42; Col 1:18; I Peter 2:5; John 13:35
